A shut off kit provides a valve to shut off the outlet of the system during regneration. A shut off kit prevents hard water bypass. It is included in "twin alternating" systems and is optional on "twin" systems.

A Super Flow Kit provides inlet and outlet bypass valves which are open during service and closed during regeneration. This allows the MF or HF five cycle valve to perform the regeneration functions. During service the MF or HF valve is bypassed allowing higher flows. A Super Flow Kit could be called a service flow bypass.
